Removing weeds from the western boundary in 2015

The group meets early (7:30am) on the last Sunday of the month for a couple of hours, (except for January and December when it is too hot). We usually start bush regeneration work somewhere near the corner of Gaza and Bapaume Roads. Volunteers are always welcome, just introduce yourself one Sunday morning. No special equipment is necessary but you should wear sensible clothes, apply sunscreen & insect repellant, and bring along some water. If you are interested in finding out more about our group and its activities, you can email us.

Regeneration Time Lapse

The same area between the creek and Gaza Road just west of the huge fig tree

These are images of the same area between the creek and Gaza Road just west of the huge fig tree, between 2000 and 2010. This was once a mass of Para grass, taller than a person, which covered all of the land and the creek. It was cleared by a contractor employed by Brisbane City Council and planted out in July 2000 as part of the Olympic Landcare planting. More than 100 members of the community participated.

The same land on Bapaume Rd

These images are of the same land on Bapaume Rd between 2001 and 2010. This area was used to stockpile soil when the SE busway was being built. Prior to the busway being built the land was a mown field and after the unwanted soil was removed, mulch was spread and plants planted on July 29 2001 on National Tree Day. Quite a few students from the school participated.
