Hidden away in Holland Park West, between the freeway, Gaza Road and the high school, a dramatic transformation has been gathering pace over the past two decades. From a weed-infested wasteland to a thriving rainforest fed by a healthy creek, the change has attracted back native animals including fairy wrens, koalas and squirrel gliders. The bush regeneration was started in 1997 by volunteers of the Ekibin Creek Bushcare Group. And on National Tree Day, Sunday 30 July 2017 we celebrated this effort with guided walks, plantings, native animal sightings and morning tea.
