A rain event on the evening of Wednesday 3rd February, 2016 dropped a fair amount of rain in the Mt. Gravatt region. Since Ekibin Creek (East Branch) has a catchment covering the north-west corner of the mountain, quite a bit of water flowed into the creek. It is estimated that, at the Ekibin Creek Buscare site, the water level rose about 1 metre. Consequently a fair bit of debris was transported down the creek. This cunjevoi (Alocasia brisbanensis) growing right next to the bank would have been fully covered as the water surged past. It collected a fair bit of debris around its base, but held on.
