We are well into December's hot dry season, with only the occasional storm to provide some short-lived respite. Consequently Ekibin Creek is now a series of isolated waterholes. Presumably, the creek is still flowing underground, but there is no movement above ground. These conditions place stress on all the living things associated with the creek, especially trees, shrubs and grasses that we have established recently. Fortunately, we only plant local natives and these are adapted to dry conditions, so they have some chance of survival. Of course, the wet season approaches and with it other dangers, especially flooding in the creek bed.
