August in Brisbane is usually cold, windy and dry. This year is no exception, so it is a bit surprising to see Ekibin Creek with a healthy surface water flow. Some upstream rehabilitation work has been completed in the past year (around the Nursery Road Special School), so there may be greater capacity in the catchment closer to Mt. Gravatt. However, there is likely to be a few months of dry weather before thunderstorms appear, so the creek may still break up into isolated waterholes.
